Salt of the Earth is an album recorded in tribute to my father who passed away on December 7th, 2013. It is no way music for music's sake. It is a sonic journey through the different emotions that I felt during the mourning process after his death. It is meant to be taken in in a single sitting, and to tell a story not through words, but through music.
This is not a normal Malacath release, but it tragically follows in the same vein as my previous Solace Trilogy and the EPs that they were on. It tells the story of the loss of life, and coming to terms with it mentally.
I would like to thank everyone who has been here for me and my family during this past year who have helped us out in any way they can. I can not repay what you have done for us, but I can let you know that your help has been appreciated. I would also like to thank everyone who lent an ear during the recording and mixing process who gave their insight on how everything was sounding. It isn't perfect, but it's better than it would have been and that is thanks to you.
And finally I would like to thank my Father for instilling this desire and need to create in me. You were my hero, and you are missed every day.
Written and recorded between December 2013 and the summer of 2014 at Suicide-Commander Studios
Mixed, re-mixed, and then mixed again by Lykos from Summer to December, 2014.
Eternally dedicated to my father.
"Northern wind take my song up high
To the Hall of glory in the sky
So its gates shall greet me open wide
When my time has come to die"
- Song to Hall Up High, Bathory
